Dr. Burens is a highly accomplished optometrist who provides comprehensive eye care for patients with both routine and complex needs. She has advanced training in surgical co-management, including cataract, LASIK, and PRK procedures at Davis Eye Center in Cleveland, where she partners closely with surgeons to support patients before and after surgery. In addition to co-managing refractive and cataract surgery, she cares for patients with conditions such as diabetes, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and ocular surface disease, using a holistic approach to dry eye that looks beyond symptoms to focus on lasting comfort and vision quality. She values the opportunity to be a partner in each patient’s health journey and is passionate about making a meaningful difference in their daily lives.

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Burens earned her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at The Ohio State University, graduating magna cum laude. She went on to complete a dual degree program at Ohio State, earning both her Master of Science in Vision Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees with summa cum laude honors while achieving the top national board examination score in her field. During her training, she received multiple awards recognizing excellence in research, clinical care, and academics and completed her ocular disease training at the White River Junction VA Center in Vermont. Throughout her education, she also took on leadership roles in organizations such as Ocular Disease, Lions Club, Low Vision Rehabilitation, AOSA, and SVOSH and earned Student Fellow distinction through the American Academy of Optometry.
What drives me most about optometry is the privilege of being a partner in my patients' health journeys, whether that's through routine care or managing complex conditions. The eyes truly are windows to overall health, and I'm passionate about using my training and experience to make a meaningful difference in each person's life.
